In the lurch

How's it going?

Some days ago I was going to take out of my creations' box a necklace that found a new owner and I realized I'm short of ooaks. Well, they go two at once!

Understand me: that's really cool, it means you like what I do! :D

But in the other side I take a look at my half empty box, the accumulated pieces on my desk, the accumulated ideas on my head, I remember the short space of time available to me... and I regret universe didn't give the chance to millipedes to rule planet Earth.
That is... I would have 375 pairs of arms right now! >_<

Well, where there is a will, there is a way, isn't it?
For there is nothing I most want that keep on inventing and learning every day, so here we go! :)

Non-stop

How's it going?

Those of you who follow this blog every week may be wondering where the hell I've gotten over the past month as my usual "weeklies" have been summarized in an unusual "monthly"...

Well, I can assure you (and I'm sure you'll believe me) that I haven't stopped!

First, I've rushing headlong into creating original pieces in precious metals (brass, for now) and although I haven't achieved the desired results yet, I hope to master the technique early this year...

Let's be optimistic: the second try seems better than first :D

If you add to this task, challenging and hoarder in itself, a project of sterling silver jewelry in a medium-large scale, the renovation of the exhibitors at my stand and the perpetual buzz of my imagination giving a push to the indiscriminate inventive...

In short, don't worry if you don't hear from me in a few days, I can't keep up! >__<

November through the Looking-Glass

Friday 21 November 2014

How's it going?

I've been away from Ooak☥Craft for almost half a month... Not for nothing, but by all! >_<
I've been so busy (more than usual, I assure you) than I haven't seen at no time the opportunity to sit down and write...

Between the work that feeds me (it's paid economic but not intellectually), the orders and the dozens of projects I have ongoing, I managed to exhaust myself to the point where I need to pseudo-resting for a few days and postpone for some time the ooakrafts inventing.

But what I'm saying... postpone?

"Through the Looking-Glass" set -UNAVAILABLE-

Nonconformity

How's it going?

You don't know how much I like untimely things, or better said, how little I like to being imposed about the issues to talk in my posts when some 'special dates' approach.

Reaching October's end you can take a look at cyberspace and get tired of seeing articles about pumpkins, skeletons, witches, vampires, ghosts, spiders and all kind of assorted horrors, many of them sweetened by red cheeks and namby-pamby expressions...

I'm not saying I don't enjoy Halloween or I don't like assorted horrors (we bought some fang-shaped sweets just yesterday), I'm saying I don't want to force me to write about it just because the rest of world does it or just because "that's what its supposed to be done".

For this reason, and even at the risk of seem dead boring, this posts isn't going to talk about this 'party', but about an ooak that it's nothing to do with it: natural ivy bookmarks.

How's it going?

Do you remember the reptilian torcs I made some time ago? They had a sprig of Araucaria excelsa, also called 'Norfolk pine' as basis (By the way, I don't exclude the possibility of making similar designs in short...)

Well then, two years later I achieved to replicate in metal something like the original texture!:

The even more difficult

Friday 17 October 2014

How's it going?

It took me a while to decide, but I finally couldn't resist temptation:

¡Ooak☥Craft blog goes international! ^^
OoakCraft en Español OoakCraft in English

Yes, I know, I've got bats in the belfry.

I can already see my *sister/social networks administrator* (well, my sister and half the people I know) throwing up his hands and yelling me 'You crazy! It's already hard for you to post in Spanish, when are you going to take time for write in English, peahead?'

I don't know... I'll borrow it from the Gray Men, hehehe...

What I have in mind is to post hereafter in two languages while I slowly translate the already published posts in my Spanish blog to English... the even more difficult, ladies and gentlemen!

And as I want to learn, I would be grateful to be mercilessly criticized and corrected by those of you who speak English fluently whenever you deem appropriate... No hard feelings ;)

The way forward is sometimes the way back

Thursday 9 October 2014

How's it going?

You can't always get it right, can you? It would be rare, very rare, doing it always the right way. We all make mistakes, we fail... But sometimes the option for fix our errors is given. That's where I want to go!

Everyday I spend part of my time in correcting and trying, fixing and learning. Because as a self-taught costume-jewelry maker, mistakes are part of my learning process: trial and error, it would say heuristics.

"Musa" earrings pieces, for example, were part of a necklace whose design never convinced me...

"Musa" earrings -SOLD-

And "No hay dos sin tres" necklace was formerly a bracelet!

"No hay dos sin tres" necklace -SOLD-

Now it's not lie to say they are ooakcrafts from top to bottom :)

As Wiseman said 'the way forward is sometimes the way back'... how right!

How's it going?

Maybe because the middle-constipated that I have for at least a week and a half or because the change of season that confuse me, this week it's being so hard to create and much more sit down and write...

So,for a change, today's will be a short post, like those who drops in here once in a while ;)

Despite all, I have something to show you: the "MabTorc" slight torc.

"MabTorc" slight torc -SOLD-

A 'slight torc'? What does that means?, you might be wondering...
Well, it's a self-invention! Yes, sometimes I rave and have curious ideas >_<

A 'slight torc' basically it's a reduced to the minimum torc: it retains its main features (horseshoe shape, twisted steel, ornamental stops), but conversely it's flexible, not rigid, and slightly thinner, not smaller.

This is to say, a sort of 'torclet' for everyday...
That's why I named it "MabTorc", or "Torc son" in Welsh ;)

Ravens have traditionally been considered birds of ill omen due to its black feathers and shocking croaking; no wonder then that they've been associated symbolically since time immemorial with death and lost souls...

How's it going?

You caught me... Last week I was on vacation!
I was in solitary confinement, lost willingly in the middle of nowhere for taking a bath of mountains, fields and forests, those of which I spoke a post ago:

Wilderness: A tree eating a signroad! >_<

A cauldron of Forest

Thursday 28 August 2014

How's it going?

I've always been fascinated by pine cones. And ivy, and dragonflies, and moss...

Maybe I fell in a cauldron of forest when I was a little girl... Or maybe the everlasting holidays of my childhood in my mother's village (in northern Spain, by the High Aragon) influenced me more than I can imagine.

I remember sunny mornings playing with branches-made bows on the stone town square; noons under the shade of old trees, "fishing" young trouts by hand on the shores of an icy river; evenings behind the nonexistent walls of a forgotten cemetery, reconquered by ears of wheat; nights strolling around lost paths full of wild blackberries, cattails and frogs...

Anyway, as I said, pine cones rocks!
Hence "Wood's gift", a simple necklace in bronze tone with a pine cone as a pendant:

"Wood's gift" necklace -SOLD-

What better way to worship the woods? ^^

"Lanoitidart"

Thursday 21 August 2014

How's it going?

Take a good look at the title of this post... What? No, I'm not out of my head yet
It's only a play on words: what's the opposite to "traditional"? "Lanoitidart"! >_<

You know how I like unusual and original creations... So when someone says "I love duck-billed platypus!" or "I want a Cthulhu on my wedding", it's virtually impossible to me to stop gears of imagination (that and some tea and sweets, pfff! I keep on going for a while!)

The design for this special commision, for instance, was showered by cinnamon tea and chocolate pie:

Tree-hugger costume jewelry

How's it going?

Recycle, reuse, reduce.
I'm sure you already know about this eco-mantra: many of us decided to incorporate the 3Rs rule in our day to day time ago.

Personally I try to keep it in mind at all times, so much that one person I know has jeered me sarcastically on more than one occasion "you tree-hugger!"... Expression, by the way, it has always seemed to me more like a compliment than an offense.

And according to my view, some of you will agree with me, everything or almost everything in this world has at least one re-use... including jewelry!

I give you an example: the torc "Tutiab".

Had you ever heard about bindis?

"Fire Bindis" -UNAVAILABLE-

The bindi, whose literal translation is "drop" or "point" in Sanskrit, is an Indian motif usually placed on the forehead, right between the eyes.

This area is considered by Tantrists as "the home of the hidden wisdom"; the bindi, or "third eye" helps retain energy emanating from this chakra and promotes concentration.

Over time this motif has become used by outsiders more like facial decoration element as a spiritual symbol...

How's it going?

These days, after passing the stand of the Undead dark club, I've dedicated myself to mend my messy work corner. And I say "messy" not because it's damaged, but because it seems that it has been destroyed by a sharknado: pieces around, commissions there, beads, sketches, half finished ooaks...

Like it's impossible no one clarifies this way, I leave you here a strange design to keep you busy decrypting it while I put this mess in order: the "Elder One" necklace.

New creations, vol.15

How's it going?

This weekend we go for a Cuélebre concert with crafts stand in Barcelona... As you can guess, between the selection of pieces to carry I must do, the orders, the international orders and my other costume jewelry issues I've no time to breathe U_U

And is that I'm always adding tasks to my long to-do list: making photos of all remaining ooaks I want to show you, renewing my cracked displays, changing the labels for the new ones with the current logo, doing more ooaks...

But as everything can't be done at same time, I'll start briefly shortening the list of "not shown ooaks" with a new creation: the "Aurora (boreal)" rosary (this name has a dual meaning in spanish when "Dawn rosary", a Christian term, becomes "Northern lights rosary", a pagan term).

Wisdom pills

Wednesday 9 July 2014

How's it going?

It's summer and it's hot; most of you are on holiday, and... Well, we aren't here for nonsenses. In the end, it's time to enjoy the sun and unwind...

But Ooak☥Craft never sleeps! (not as much as I would like -___-U) So, one more week, I bring you small wisdom pills, this time hidden in a torc and a rigid choker:

"Huginn ok Muninn" torc -SOLD-

Creational cravings

Wednesday 2 July 2014

How's it going?

I love custom orders because I see them like small creative challenges (Will I be able to...?)
But I can't lie: what I really love it's to let loose to my inner nutcase and play Frankenstein with all the pieces I have like a little girl with her new crayons in front of a huge white wall.

Yesterday, at last, I got on the impulsive invention bandwagon... Well, it was time to move around at my pleasure! >_<

And here you have the outcome: the "Arianrhod" torc-bracelet.

"Arianrhod" torc-bracelet -SOLD-

Arianrhod was a celtic goddess that represented femenine potential, rebirth, seasonal wheel and time. Her name means "silver circle"... Just great, right? ;)

Custom orders everywhere

Saturday 28 June 2014

How's it going?

This week I'm late in writting this post because I was finishing lots of custom orders that I have been accumulating... Not because of laziness, but in some cases for lack of pieces and as always by lack of time U_U

Although I still have several commisions to finish, I have finished a Cernunnos necklace, another gears necklace and "redesigned" a pair of mother-of-pearl earrings... Not bad for not having had time, right? XP
